B-Path at ESCMID: Showcasing Innovative Breath-Based Diagnostics for Respiratory Viruses

20 Aprile 2026

🧬 The B-Path project is proud to be represented at ESCMID Global 2026, one of the most important international events in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology.

At this year’s congress, partners from the consortium are presenting new data on breath-based diagnostics through the poster:

“Respiratory Viruses from Breath Samples: Evaluation of Nucleic Acid Extraction Systems”

Developed in collaboration with Goethe University Frankfurt and Avelo AG, the study explores the use of the AveloMask device to collect exhaled breath aerosols for detecting respiratory viruses.

🔬 These findings reinforce the potential of breath-based sampling as a non-invasive, patient-friendly alternative to traditional diagnostic methods such as nasopharyngeal swabs.

In line with B-Path’s mission, this work helps develop scalable, accessible, and rapid diagnostic solutions that strengthen preparedness and response to future respiratory outbreaks and pandemics.

🦠 Participation in ESCMID Global 2026 provides a valuable platform to share these advancements with the global scientific community, foster collaborations, and accelerate the translation of research into real-world impact.

Stay tuned for more updates from ESCMID and follow B-Path as we continue working towards faster, easier, and more accessible diagnostics for all.
